The most coveted trophy in North American professional sports, the Stanley Cup, is the prize awaiting the winner of the NHL playoffs. This year's Stanley Cup Final welcomes a first-time contestant in the Nashville Predators against the reigning champion Pittsburgh Penguins. 
The Predators are in the Final for the first time in franchise history after defeating the Ducks in the Western Conference finals. The Penguins, led by superstars Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin, return to the Stanley Cup Final after a thrilling seven-game series against the Senators that ended in double-overtime.

The Predators, who began play in the NHL as an expansion team in 1998, are led by defenseman P.K. Subban, goaltender Pekka Rinne and forwards Filip Forsberg and Viktor Arvidsson. They've turned Music City into a hockey town with their play in the postseason.

When is the 2017 Stanley Cup Final?

The 2017 Stanley Cup Final starts Monday, May 29, in Pittsburgh at PPG Paints Arena, home of the Pens. The Stanley Cup Final could end as early as Monday, June 5, if the series ends in a sweep, or as late as Wednesday, June 14, if the series goes a full seven games.
