Dear Mary Lou,
Is Lt. Governor Tate Reeves trying to kill the Firearms Protection Act?
I hope not. But insiders in Jackson have told me he may be trying to do just that.
More on that in a minute...
First, the good news.
State Representative Mark Formby (R-108) has introduced the Firearm Protection Act into the Mississippi legislature.
This bill is designed to prevent federal law from overstepping its bounds when it comes to your gun rights.
The bill -- HB-625 -- would make any anti-gun federal law or executive
order which attempts to ban a semi-automatic firearm or limit the
capacity of a magazine unenforceable in the state of Mississippi.
On top of that, it would penalize anyone trying to enforce the unconstitutional law.
Rep. Formby's bill, which has been proposed in nearly two dozen
states, will protect your gun rights and Mississippi’s Tenth Amendment
right to self governance.
Unfortunately, without your help, this bill is at the mercy of the anti-gunners in Jackson.
I have to tell you, this is the kind of thing that makes me proud to be an American.
Working in politics, not a day goes by that I don’t see some politician assaulting the freedoms of hard-working Americans.
It’s a refreshing change to see a bill advance and protect your gun rights.
Supporters of HB-625 are doing what they can to fight the expansion of the Federal Government's anti-gun powers.
But... there's some bad news.
Insiders have warned me that Lt. Governor Tate Reeves would like to
see HB-625, the Firearms Protection Act, killed or weakened.
As Lt. Governor, Reeves has a tremendous amount of power over Senate business.
HB-625 recently passed committee in the House, but now I'm afraid there
are warning signs that Reeves may be trying to kill it even before it
makes it before the Senate.
As a Mississippi resident and patriot, your lawmakers need to hear from you.
That's why I need your help right now!
Here's what you can do:
1.) Contact Lt. Governor Tate Reeves by phone at (601) 359-3200 or by email at ltgov@senate.ms.gov.
Tell him to stay out of the way of HB-625. Urge him to stand up for
Mississippi gun owners and against federal intrusion on your Second
Amendment Rights!
2.) Contact your State Representative at (601) 359-3770 or click here for a list of Representatives.
Tell them to pass HB-625 without delay.
Remind them the federal government is out of control and that you
expect them to take measures to curtail their gun-grabbing ways.
I fully support Mississippi’s Firearm Protection Act, HB-625 and strongly encourage you to do the same.
Please contact your State Representative and Lt. Governor Reeves today!
There’s no time to lose.
For Freedom,
Dudley Brown
Executive Vice President
P.S. HB 625 -- Mississippi's Firearm Protection Act will render any new federal gun control unenforceable in Mississippi.
But insiders have told me that Lt. Governor Tate Reeves is getting cold feet.
Give him a call at (601) 359-3200 or send him a message at ltgov@senate.ms.gov.
Tell him to support HB-625 or stay out of the way.
Then contact your State Representative at (601) 359-3770 and urge them to support HB-625 without delay.
Also, please consider chipping in $10 or $20 to help the National
Association for Gun Rights keep up the fight for pro-gun legislation and
against anti-gun schemes in Jackson and Washington.
On
Monday, Ohio Gov. John Kasich announced he will expand the state’s
Medicaid program with federal dollars. Conservatives are ticked off. It
was conservatives that got Kasich elected. They hoped he would reject
Obamacare. Their hope was misplaced.
Where does Gov. Kasich think the federal dollars are going to come from? If the money
comes from other states, then where will the money for the other states
come from when governors take a similar position? Somebody’s going to
have to pay. There are no “federal dollars.” They money is either taken
from some people or the government prints it. Either way, theft is
involved.
If the people of Ohio want to steal from the people in their own
state, then let them do it. Don’t take money from me in Georgia to pay
for what goes on in Ohio and vice versa.
It’s no wonder conservatives are frustrated. They work hard to elect
solid conservatives, and then they fold under fiscal and public
pressure. The turncoat’s argument goes something like this:
“I’m the governor of all the people. I must do what’s best for all the people of the state.”
What he means by the comment that he’s afraid that he won’t get
re-elected if he doesn’t moderate his position. What he doesn’t
understand is that the reason he will lose the next
election is that the people who elected him the first time and are now
disgusted with his compromising ways will stay home the next time.
Kasich said he does not support Obamacare, but he does support
Medicaid expansion. Kasich is now sounding like Bill Clinton. He told
reporters that he does not consider the expansion of Medicaid as
Obamacare.
Gov. Kasich says he wants to help “people who are at the lower
economic end.” Good for him. But taking dollars money from people in
other states only punishes the people who had their money taken from
them by force.
Gov. Kasich knows that government programs always costs more. The
programs grow over time and get more expensive, bureaucratic, and
inefficient. When something is subsidized, you get more of it, and the
more you get is an increase of all that’s bad about the program.
Look what’s happened to the number of people on disability.
“[F]ederal disability payments climbed to yet another record high of
8,830,026 in January, up from 8,827,795 in December, according to newly
released data from the Social Security Administration.” What makes us think the same won’t happen with ObamaCare?
The following is from Politico:
“Medicaid is a broken, costly system that
needs meaningful reform; expanding the system to include another
365,000 individuals is exactly the wrong policy for Ohio families,” said
Nicole Kaeding, state policy manager for Americans for Prosperity.
“Instead of trapping families in a system that doesn’t work, Gov. Kasich
should devote his efforts and activities to forcing Columbus and
Washington to pass badly needed reforms.”
It’s no wonder conservatives are frustrated. In a nation where
conservatives outnumber liberals, you would think that someone like Gov.
Kasich would take notice. Consider this latest Gallup poll:
“The percentage of individuals who
identify as conservative in 2012 outnumber those who identify as liberal
in 47 out of the 50 states, in addition to the District of Columbia
(D.C.) according to a Gallup poll released on Feb. 1.
Nationally, the amount of self-identified
conservatives (38 percent) still outnumbers liberals (23 percent). The
disparity between conservatives and liberals has remained consistent
since Gallup began its tracking in 2008.”
So what’s the problem? Why is the GOP losing elections? Conservative
voters stay home on election-day because they feel betrayed.

Under Obamacare, 7 Million Will Lose Their Employer-Based Health Insurance
Thanks to Obamacare, a CBO-estimated 7 million people will lose their employer-based health insurance,
nearly twice the estimate that was released last year in August. How’s
that for universal health care? And what happened to being able to keep
the plan you’ve got if you like it? That’s what Obama promised a few years ago in July:
“No matter how we reform health care, we
will keep this promise: If you like your doctor, you will be able to
keep your doctor. Period. If you like your health care plan, you will be
able to keep your health care plan. Period. No one will take it away.
No matter what.”
The Affordable Care Act is expensive and will continue
to contribute to rising health care costs. Many businesses will not be
able to afford to comply with Obamacare’s mandates and will instead pay
the less expensive penalties. This will leave many uninsured. On the
bright side, all the penalties being paid by these businesses will help
to raise revenue for the feds:
“CBO said that this year’s tax cuts have
changed the incentives for businesses and made it less attractive to
pay for insurance, meaning fewer will decide to do so. Instead, they’ll
choose to pay a penalty to the government, totaling $13 billion in
higher fees over the next decade.”
This has been the plan all along. The government has created an
economic environment that will continue to force people out of their
private insurance plans
and into a single payer system. And it won’t be Obama’s fault. He’ll
claim that these people still had the “freedom of choice” to have their
private insurance, but those greedy businesses chose not to provide
coverage for their employees and instead opted to “maximize their
profits.” It’s all the free market’s fault.
So, once again, the government creates a problem to elicit a reaction
from the public and then offers its “solution” to the problem that it
created in the first place. They created the problem by imposing taxes,
regulations and mandates that these businesses can’t afford, which
causes people to lose their health insurance. But, the government will
be there to save the day and offer them “free” health care.
California,
as usual, is leading the Left in wackines as liberals see their
chances for eliminating guns fading after the Newtown slaughter.
When the latest nut job massacred a score of youngsters, the Left saw
an opportunity to reach their long-held goal of eliminating guns, using
a road paved with the bodies of children to achieve their dictatorial
goals.
What they didn’t count on was resistance from the majority of Americans, including many who identify themselves as Democrats.
The result has been that their dream bill, introduced by California
Sen. Dianne Feinstein, faces increasingly slim chances of passage.
So California Democrats have joined liberals in five other states to
throw a legislative hail Mary pass in the form of a proposal to require
gun owners to take out liability insurance.
“I was moved, like many others, being the father of two young
children, by the Sandy Hook incident and looking for constructive ways
to manage gun violence here in California as well as the rest of the
country,” said Assemblyman Philip Ting of San Francisco, who introduced
AB231. “There’s basically a cost that is born by the taxpayers when
accidents occur. … I don’t think that taxpayers should be footing those
bills.” The legislation is co-sponsored by Assemblyman Jimmy Gomez of
Los Angeles.
Followers of politics should see multiple red flags here. First, any
legislation originating in San Francisco and Los Angeles is trouble out
of the gate. Second, any time a politician, particularly a liberal,
leads off with his family, whatever follows is going to be nothing but
spin to ingratiate himself to the people he hopes to screw over. Third,
whenever a Democrat starts expressing concern about taxpayer costs, you
can be 100 percent certain he’s proposing a plan to increase costs for
those taxpayers.
Obviously, Adam Lanza wasn’t going to be stopped by any insurance
plan, so this proposal isn’t about gun owners’ responsibility, cutting
taxpayer costs or any of the other excuses liberals will use to justify
another government mandate to require people to buy something.
Ting’s recent election campaign received significant donations from a
number of insurance PACs, insurance associations, government insurance
regulators and individual insurance brokers. Gomez’s recent election campaign received more than $20,000 from the insurance industry.
It doesn’t take much work to connect the dots here and see the insurance companies
counting the potential profits gained by your loss of rights. It also
doesn’t require much of a leap of imagination to envision the outcome of
the effort to force gun owners to buy insurance.
The more liberals push their fascist gun-grabbing agenda, regardless
of the justifications, the more likely they’ll find those guns being put
to use as the Founding Fathers envisioned, to stop an out-of-control
government.

Ann Coulter Delivers Dire Gun Warning:
Universal Background Checks Could Lead to ‘Universal Confiscation,
Universal Extermination’ of Firearms
Ann Coulter on “Hannity” (Photo Credit: Fox News)
Commentator Ann Coulter appeared on “Hannity” last night, issuing a dire warning to the American people about universal background checks,
a provision currently being touted by gun control advocates. Rather
than embracing the proposal, Coulter warned that it could lead to
“universal confiscation” and, ultimately, “universal extermination” of
firearms.
After speaking briefly with host Sean Hannity about the much-discussed photograph
of President Barack Obama skeet shooting, the columnist noted that the
president misses the point on the Second Amendment (i.e. the purpose of
the constitutional right isn’t so citizens can go skeet shooting; it
allows Americans to protect themselves).
“I’m waiting for photos of him taking birth control pills to show him fighting the war on women,” Coulter quipped.
On the gun control front, she gave a
passionate speech about how the real problem is mental illness, accusing
the left of skirting that issue and embracing firearms control measures
that may do little to actually solve the problem. Of particular note,
she focused upon universal background checks, launching into claims that
implementing them would be potentially-dangerous for Second Amendment
rights. Here’s what she said:
“The problem with universal
background checks is, we basically have universal background checks
now. Any licensed gun dealer is performing a background check. The buyer
may not know, someone at a gun show may not know, but if you’re walking
through a gun show, everybody’s doing background checks. The only
people who are not subjected to a background checks are collectors
giving guns to their sons or they’re selling one to their brother-in-law
or something. The only way to enforce universal — the last .1 percent
of guns that are transferred by collectors and so on — is to have
universal gun registration.”
It is here that Coulter noted that U.S.
citizens could fall victim to a slippery slope of gun control
regulations, inevitably culminating in a loss of the right to bear arms.
“Universal background check means
universal registration. Universal registration means universal
confiscation, universal extermination,” she continued. “That’s how it
goes in history. Do not fall for universal background checks.”
Coulter also went on to lambaste the
notion that a gun in the home “is more likely to be used against the
owner than to kill an intruder,” something that is sometimes touted by
those seeking greater gun restrictions.
“This is a lie they are telling you in
order to prevent Americans from self-defense, from protecting
themselves so that only the government has a monopoly on guns,” she said
of other claims against guns being perpetuated in media.
