Netflix fires Lori Loughlin from Fuller House

Facing backlash over the college admissions scandal, Netflix has canned Loughlin.

As the college admissions scandal broke and while those involved were name, fans of Lori Loughlin wondered what this meant for her future and how this would impact her work, particularly her role in Netflix's "Fuller House." The college admissions scandal is a serious deal. Now that this has been blown wide open, something needs to be done and changes need to be set in place to give students a fair chance to get into the schools mentioned.
It was revealed that Loughlin allegedly paid bribes of up to $500,000 to an admissions consultant, who fraudulently got their two daughters into the University of Southern California.

Loughlin ended up appearing in federal court last Wednesday and was released on a $1 million bail. She's scheduled to return to court March 29 in Boston. Others named in the case include Hollywood investor Bill McGlashan, actress Felicity Huffman and administrators and athletic coaches at USC, Stanford, Yale and the University of Texas. Lori Loughlin is facing charges of conspiracy to commit mail fraud and honest services fraud.

Lori Loughlin best known for her work on 'Fuller House'

Loughlin is best known for her role as Rebecca Donaldson in the popular sitcom "Full House," and has made multiple guest appearances in Netflix's "Fuller House," as Aunt Becky.

Fans wondered how long it would take for Neflix to take action against Loughlin. TMZ reports that Loughlin is not returning to "Fuller House" when Season 5 premieres. The report says that Loughlin was a guest star and there are no plans for her return for the next season.

This should not be a surprise to anyone. Netflix is not the only one to cut ties with the actress. Hallmark also announced they were done with Lori Loughlin. Hallmark released a statement regarding their series "When Calls the Heart," saying the series will not air on Sunday and are considering all creative options related to the hit series.

FBI started investigation into the college bribe scam

Last week, the FBI had started an investigation "Operation Varsity Blues," into a number of wealth parents who allegedly paid between $200,000 and $6.5 million to get their children into top universities. The scam allegedly included faking SAT and ACT scores and paying college coaches to have their kids designated as athletic recruits. The parents charged in the case include CEOs, real estate investors, and the co-chair of a global law firm.
It's time that hard working students are given a fair shot when it comes to getting into the college of their choice.

The state of California is poised to award thousands of high school degrees to dropouts by passing a new law retroactively removing the requirement to pass a high school exit exam.
The California High School Exit Exam (CASHEE) was created in 2004, and is intended to make sure that students have a rudimentary grasp of English and mathematics before being awarded a high school diploma, and to counter the phenomenon of students receiving passing grades while learning almost nothing. The test is hardly complex. The math test, for instance, only covers 8th grade-level material and can be passed if students answer 55 percent of questions correctly. About 80 percent of California high schoolers take and pass it on their first try while in the 10th grade, and overall passage rates for the class of 2014 were above 97 percent.
But now, a bill passed Thursday by the California legislature, which Gov. Jerry Brown is expected to sign, suspends the exam through 2018, while also retroactively suspending it back to 2004. That means thousands of students who failed to ever pass the exam but otherwise completed all other requirements will now be able to receive diplomas.

  1. Johnny has an AK47 with a 40 round clip. If he misses 6 out of 10 shots and shoots 15 times each drive by, how many drive by shootings must he conduct before he shoots 50 people?
Johnny hits 15*(4/10) people per drive by, which means that he will have to participate in 9 drive bys to shoot 50 people. However, he will have completed two drive-by shootings and be just starting the third when he has to reload. Since he only stole a single clip, he'll only have shot 16 people when the homeboys with the UZIs' make Swiss cheese out of him.
  2. Pony has 2 ounces of cocaine and he sells an 8 ball to Jackson for $320 and 2 grams to Billy for $85 per gram. What is the street value of the balance of the cocaine if he doesn't cut it?
At 454 grams per pound, 2oz of the rock = 56.75 grams. An "8 ball" is 8 grams, so pony has sold 10 grams total and has 46.75 grams left. If he keeps selling 8-balls, he can sell 5 more (for a total of 5*$320=$1,600) and have 6.75 grams for his own nose. If he sells 2 gram packs, he can sell (46/2-23) packs at $85 apiece = (23*$85)=$1,955. However, he could divide it into small parts, bake it up into crack and sell the rocks for an even larger profit. This problem is really more suited for the Gang Multi-Variable Economics Test.
  3. Ron is pimping for 3 girls. If the price is $65 for each trick, how many tricks will each have to turn so Ron can pay for his $800 per day crack habit?
800/$64=12 tricks plus a dance. Also, Ron should consider making a deal with Pony from Question #2.
  4. Susan wants to cut her ½ pound of heroin to make 20% more profit. How many ounces of cut will she need?
If she sells the cut heroin at the same price per unit volume, she will need 20% more volume. 20% of ½ pound (=8oz) is 1.6oz. So, Susan will need 1.6oz of cut to add to the 8 oz of heroin to get 20% more volume. She will want a cut which looks similar to raw heroin and has approximately the same melting point. Plain sugar or laundry detergent are suggested. Laundry detergent has the added benefit of removing the possibility of customer complaints, but will sharply limit repeat business.
  5. Blade gets $200 for stealing a BMW, $50 for a Chevy, and $100 for a 4x4. If he has already stolen 2BMW's and 3 4x4's, how many Chevy's will he have to steal to make $800?
Blade has made 2*$200 + 3*$100=$700 dollars from his theft so far. He needs $100 more, so he needs to steal $100/$50=2 more Chevy's. However, he will probably want to steal 4 Chevy's so he can take the extra two and make a really def low-rider.
  6. Little Willy is in prison for 6 years for murder. He got $25,000 for the hit. If his common law wife is spending $250 per month, how much money will be left when he gets out of prison and how many years will he get for killing the bitch that spent his money?
6 years*12 months/year*$250/month=$18,000. Little Willy will have $25,000 - $18,000 = $7,000 left when he gets out of prison. If Little Willy kills her in the USA, he should expect to get 6 years. However, if he takes her down to Mexico and buries her scrawny, track-marked butt in the desert, he can get off scott free.
  7. If the average can of spray paint covers 22 square feet, and the average letter is 4 square feet, how many letters can a tagger spray with 3 cans of paint?
3 cans of paint will cover 3*22=66 square feet. 66/4=16 letters with a little paint left over to spray in the eyes of the cop who's comin' after you. Or the tagger could do 15 letters and a bitchin' skull.
  8. Hector knocked up 6 girls in his gang. There are 27 girls in the gang. What percentage of the girls in the gang has Hector knocked up?
6/27=22% of the girls. However, 2 of them are lying because they've been sleeping with Pedro, Hector's lieutenant. So, in actuality, Hector only knocked up 4/27 or 14.8%.
  9. Rosie's sole source of income is shoplifting. If she gets 10 cents on the dollar from her fence, how much merchandise must she shoplift each week to make $250?
    Solve X/10=250 for X, X=$2,500.
  10. Mike carjacked a Chevy Camaro for his date Saturday night with his young 14 year old girlfriend. He was arrested that night while making his girlfriend in the backseat. How much prison time is he looking for for the carjacking and for statutory rape, even though the girl looked legal? Assume no prior convictions in arriving at your answer.
Mike is only 12 so he will serve no time and will be making his girlfriend in the lot in someone else's car next Saturday.

While Spanish teacher and Playboy model Cristy Nicole Deweese will never be forgotten, another teacher who got fired not too long ago is definitely making a push as The Daily Caller’s favorite teacher of all time. Olivia Sprauer certainly deserves the honor of Gold Star Teacher of the Week. Sprauer, a former freshman English teacher at Martin County High School on Florida’s Atlantic Coast, will now show her junk in Hustler magazine (slogan, at least at one time: “Hardcore since ’74”). The ex-schoolteacher, who goes by her far sexier model name Victoria V. James, will be featured on the March 2014 cover of Hustler. Inside, she will also have her very own 14-page photo spread.  Followers of James on her Facebook page got a pre-publication peek at the skin mag’s cover displaying a decent percentage of her goods, reports Broward Palm Beach New Times. She captioned the photo: “Comes out Xmas Eve!”  The cover promises “EXCLUSIVE PINK!” and “NAKED PAYBACK.” Other promised pieces involve comedian Margaret Cho’s “freaky SEX secrets” and a deathbed diatribe from the guy who managed the 1970s all-female novelty band The Runaways (which introduced the world to Joan Jett and Lita Ford).
Sprauer got canned from her job teaching English after Martin County High principal Alfred Fabrizio learned about her gig moonlighting as a a professional model. She wore bikinis and the occasional see-through lingerie. (RELATED: Florida teacher too sexy to teach) Fabrizio made a big to-do about the whole thing, escorting her out of the school. Sprauer was disappointed. “I don’t make pornography,” she insisted at the time in a statement to The Huffington Post. “I don’t open my legs on camera. I take swimsuit glamour style photography.”

Honduras beauty queen was slain by sister's jealous boyfriend, police say

Los Angeles Times

Miss Honduras 2014 was supposed to fly to London on Wednesday to compete in the Miss World pageant. Instead, she and her sister were found dead near the spa where they disappeared six days ago.
Leandro Osorio, who heads the National Directorate of Criminal Investigation, told the media in Honduras on Wednesday that officials could "confirm 100 percent" that two bodies found buried were those of beauty queen Maria Jose Alvarado, 19, and her sister, Sofia Trinidad, 23. Osorio also said investigators had found both the murder weapon and the vehicle allegedly used in the slayings.
Plutarco Ruiz, Trinidad's boyfriend, and an alleged accomplice, Aris Maldonado, have been arrested in connection with the case.
The two sisters disappeared after attending a birthday party for Ruiz on Thursday.
Police said Ruiz confessed to shooting them, jealous that his girlfriend had danced with another man. At some point during the night of the party, a heated argument broke out and Ruiz pulled a gun, firing first at his girlfriend and then at Alvarado as she tried to flee, said Gen. Ramon Sabillon, director of the National Police. Alvarado was hit twice in the back.
Alvarado had been scheduled to leave for London on Wednesday to compete in the Miss World 2014 pageant. The pageant activities begin Thursday and take place over three weeks with a finale on Dec. 14.
Honduras won't compete in the Miss World pageant this year because of Alvarado's tragic death, Honduras pageant organizer Eduardo Zablah said.
On her bio page for the Miss World competition, Alvarado described herself as a dedicated student with aspirations for a career in diplomacy. She used her statement to encourage tourists to see her country for themselves.
"Our ethnic groups like the Tawakas, Lencas, Pech, Garifunas & Misquitos have made of Honduras a country with a cultural diversity rich in customs, gastronomy and religious beliefs," she said. "For this and more I encourage you to make of Honduras a travel destination, the best is yet to come!"
Julia Morley, the chairwoman for the Miss World Organization, issued a statement Wednesday "to everyone around the world who has been touched by the awful news from Honduras this morning."
"We are devastated by this terrible loss of two young women, who were so full of life. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of Maria Jose Alvarado and Sofia Trinidad at this time of grief," Morley said.
She added that her organization is planning a special service Sunday for Alvarado and her sister and are planning a fundraiser to benefit a children's home in Honduras, selected by their mother.
Honduras has been in the news in the U.S. this year because of a steep increase in the number of children from the country crossing into America unaccompanied by adults.
The migration has been driven in large part by high crime and little opportunity in the Central American nation of about 8 million people. Honduras' overall homicide rate was the highest in the world for 2012, with 90 homicides per 100,000. Much of the high rate of violent crime there is fueled by gang and drug-trafficking conflicts.

An Exclusive Interview: Miss California 2013, Crystal Lee

Miss California Crystal Lee
Crystal Lee, crowned Miss California 2013, dazzled America in September as she vied for the coveted title of Miss America 2014. This year’s competition was brought back to the place where it all started, Atlantic City, after having been hosted in Las Vegas for several years. Lee made it look so easy, and I learned through her that the journey to the competition had not been easy for her. In fact, it took three attempts on the state level before she was able to reach the national stage. Although Lee went through periods of disappointment and self-doubt, it forced her to accept failure, come up with a new perspective and plan of attack, and to develop an attitude of determination.
Lee was born in San Francisco to an American-born Chinese father and Taiwanese mother. She was educated through San Francisco’s public school system and graduated from Stanford University with a B.A. in Human Biology and M.A. in Communication last June. She likes sashimi and enjoys outdoor activities such as backpacking, hiking, and camping. She also loves to read up on the latest technological developments and dreams of starting her own company one day by developing a great product or service.
Miss California Crystal Lee (3)
Ever since Lee was a young girl, she was always interested in pageants. She remembers moments like watching the Chinese New Year Parade and seeing Miss Chinatown wave from her float. Lee started her years in pageantry at the age of 15 when she entered the Miss Teen Chinatown 2007 competition. The following year was crowned Miss California’s Outstanding Teen 2008. A couple of years later, Lee was crowned Miss Chinatown USA 2010. Determination in mind, Lee had her eyes set on Miss America, but the road to get there proved quite challenging. Crystal was crowned Miss San Francisco 2011, but placed in the Top 12 of that year’s Miss California competition. The following year, Lee was crowned Miss South Counties and had another attempt at reaching the national stage, but came extremely close as she was runner up to 2012’s Miss California Leah Cecil. Lee’s persistence paid off on her third attempt as she was crowned Miss Silicon Valley and was on her way to compete for Miss California again in Fresno, where she was finally crowned Miss California 2013.
Throughout the years, several role models have influenced Lee for various reasons: Rose Chung, pageant director, for her ability to organize the community and mentor hundreds of young women across the SF Bay Area. Jan Yanehiro, broadcast journalist, for pioneering the Asian American face in the media. Lastly, Lee’s mother has always been a huge support for Crystal as she encouraged her to dream big, aim high, and work harder than she could have ever thought possible.
Oftentimes, people tend to think that pageantry is not a sport, but in fact it is more than a sport. It requires not only the physical and mental demands of a sport, but also includes developing  a mission for society or the community, showcasing a talent, and the ability to answer on the spot a question that could be extremely difficult, and most obviously, very stiff competition.
Entering a competition with a large pool of other competitors can be seemingly daunting knowing that the odds to place are slim and the stress unimaginable. How did Lee deal with the preliminaries? Well, Lee was faced with over 60 contestants at the Miss California competition, but at Miss America there were 52. With that being said, she wasn’t as stressed in the Miss America competition; however, Lee did have to increase her level of competitiveness because the caliber of competition was greater knowing she was up against the best from each state/territory. Nevertheless, Lee was mentally prepared to do her best, no matter who she was up against.
In an interesting twist of fate, another Crystal Lee from the state of Hawaii entered the picture. She was crowned Miss Chinatown Hawaii 2013 earlier this year and was eligible to move on and compete in the 2013 Miss Hawaii Organization program. In June, she was crowned Miss Hawaii 2013 and also competed in the Miss America Pageant. So with two Crystal Lees in the Miss America competition things must have been pretty interesting…, how well would they mesh.
MJ: Were you shocked/amazed/amused that you were competing against another Crystal Lee of Hawaii? How did you both get along?
CL: I found out a few weeks before I became Miss California and was thrilled to discover what a sweet, genuine girl she is. Interestingly enough, she was the contestant before me during preliminary competition so we sat next each other in the dressing room, and also stayed in the same hotel.
MJ: What was your platform and why did you chose that?
CL: I chose my platform, Women in S.T.E.M (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) for a few reasons: 1) it aligns with the Miss America mission to empower women and 2) it’s an issue that affects us all more than we realize. Young girls often think they’re less competent in science and math as the boys in their classes. As they grow up they tend to veer away from these majors, and it’s unfortunate because they lead to jobs that they need their perspectives, pay well, and solve crucial problems. Getting more Women in STEM would improve America’s industries. Everyone wins when we have more women leaning into these fields.
MJ: What was your talent and why did you choose that specific talent?
CL: I chose to perform a ballet en pointe piece called, “The Swan” and it depicts the final moments of a swan’s life. It’s a tragic and dramatic selection considering this was for the Miss America pageant, where most dancers chose high-energy, exuberant, and cheery talents. I wanted to share an experience of something deeper- the inevitable end that all creatures face, and the passion with which we cling on to life.
After a couple eliminations and after all the segments of competition, there left two standing. Both remaining in the competition were Asian American.
MJ: When Nina Davuluri and yourself were the last two contestants on the stage, what was going through your mind? Did that fact that both of you were Asian cross your mind as being a momentous part of history?
CL: In those final moments, I was focused on the announcement of results and didn’t think about us being Asian. We’ve had a Chinese-American in the Top 2 before, but perhaps not an Indian-American, which may have been why Nina said something about it. I’ve always thought of myself to be just as American as I am Asian. Our country has always been composed of immigrant backgrounds- whether or not your appearance reflects it. The order in which one’s forefathers arrived doesn’t make their descendants more or less American. But stepping out of the competition, I now realize what a huge step this is for all Asian Americans. I can’t wait for the day we have a Chinese-American Miss America. I hope she’s bilingual, too!
Although Lee did not take home the title of Miss America, she did become Miss America’s First Runner-Up. Following the competition, hateful comments were said over social media about the results of Miss America, what kind of effect did this have on Lee.
MJ: What is your response to all the negative and racial comments that were said about Miss America Nina Davuluri? Did you receive any racial comments as well?
CL: I haven’t received too many racial comments. I’m trying to be a lily pad this year- letting criticism roll right off like water off a lily pad. It’s sad that so many Americans don’t know how much they don’t know. It shows how far we have yet to go as a society. I’m glad the media publicly called out the perpetrators for their ignorance. It reinforces our commitment to acceptance and understanding.
Miss California Crystal Lee (4)MJ: Also being of Asian decent, what do you think it will take for Americans to be more unified and to put aside our differences?
CL: It will take time, and seeing movers and shakers of all ethnic backgrounds do great things. It’s easy to become complacent with the way things are, but the fact is we’re becoming a global world and the emerging generation seems more ready to put aside differences as we solve pressing problems. We need to encourage people of all backgrounds to step up and be leaders and role models. Once this becomes the norm, our so-called “differences” won’t seem so different after all.
Now that the Miss America Pageant had concluded, what lies on the horizon for Crystal and what was her overall experience with the Miss America Organization.
MJ: What’s next for you in the remaining year and/or years to follow?
CL: I plan to continue traveling throughout the state for appearances and making the most of my reign. I’ve heard this year flies by quickly so I’m already getting the ball rolling on a few exciting projects related to STEM in Silicon Valley. I ultimately want to work in technology/startups so this is fitting preparation for my career ahead.
MJ: What encouragement do you have for young girls and young women in America?
CL: I’d encourage more young women to compete in the Miss America program. It’s an incredible opportunity for personal growth, scholarship money, and tons of lifelong friends and benefits. You get what you choose to get out of it- and the best part is, it combines the controllable with the unpredictable! It’s the best life preparation.
MJ: How has the Miss America Pageant impacted your life?
CL: The Miss America program offers young women endless opportunities for growth, and the experience is unique for everyone who participates. The values of the Miss America crown are specific enough to give every contestant a concrete roadmap for how to be “ideal” yet broad enough for every woman to essentially write her own story. Through the 6 years I’ve spent in this program, I have won over $60,000 in scholarships, overcome my initial fear of public speaking, competed on national TV, made friends and mentors all over the nation, learned leadership and confidence, the list goes on…
MJ: What were a couple of memorable experiences that you have gained with the other representatives of Miss America?Miss California Crystal Lee (2)
CL: You might think the most memorable experiences would be the most well-documented ones (such as the telecast), but it’s actually the quiet moments that stand out most in my mind. The two weeks at Miss America are like being in a pressure cooker; we get to know each other really well because we’re together every waking moment. I’ll always remember how in awe I was hearing about the other girls’ community service projects. Miss South Carolina created a program to get more high school students applying to college. Miss Michigan, who lost her father when she was a child, has spent years helping other children cope with grief. I was really inspired by how committed these girls were to giving back.
MJ: What is something most people don’t realize about the Miss America pageant?
CL: We are essentially athletes. It’s just as mental as it is physical. Most onlookers think it’s all about how you look- but having been on the inside, let me tell you that how you think and how you act is equally important. At the national competition, every contestant is gorgeous and at her peak physical condition. Onstage, each girl can be as beautiful as the next. Where the judges select the winner is the interview. A magnetic personality and inner beauty takes you much farther than just having the prettiest face.
One thing that would stay with me from my interview with Lee was her philosophy on her overall character. “It’s important to always be presentable, to give others energy and respect, and to behave knowing that you represent something larger than just yourself.” Nevertheless, not only is Lee’s philosophy a great motto, but a selfless act we should all put into practice.
