Who Is Glenn Beck Calling the ‘Biggest Fraud Ever Perpetrated on the American People’?

Glenn Beck called Oprah Winfrey “the biggest fraud ever perpetrated on the American people” in his lifetime on his radio show Monday, pointing out what he saw as a string of blatant hypocrisies.

It all began with reports that Winfrey declined an invitation from the White House to help President Barack Obama market his health care law to the American people.

“I like that,” Beck’s co-host Pat Gray said speciously. “She’s obviously opposed to the way this thing is being rolled out. She wants to help people; [she] sees that it’s hurting people. Good for her.”

But according to the New York Post, Beck said, Winfrey didn’t decline the invitation because of the ramifications of Obamacare, but because she feels like she hasn’t had enough access to the inner circle of the White House.

“Oprah intended to make her unique White House access a part of her new network,” a source close to Oprah reportedly told the Post. “There were big plans, and a team was put together to come up with proposals that would have been mutually beneficial … but none of that ever happened.”

“Oprah sent notes and a rep to talk to Valerie Jarrett, but nothing came of it,” the story continues. “It slowly dawned on Oprah that the Obamas had absolutely no intention of keeping their word and bringing her into their confidence.”

Beck interpreted that to mean that while Oprah may say “she’s the every woman,” in reality “she doesn’t care about you or anybody else.”

He went so far as to compare her to the unions that support Obama and promise to “punish our enemies and help those who have helped us” — so long as they receive special breaks.

“Even though she has done it herself, you can’t really do it,” Beck remarked. “Oprah says you’ve got to have big government. Instead of saying, ‘I’m empowered as a woman,’ she says, ‘I’m empowered but now I need to have the government restrict every one else’s opportunity.’ She says, ‘I’m looking out for the little one.’ But then she goes to the White House and is upset and snubs the president because he won’t give her exclusive access to the White House. So, she’s not really for the little one. She’s out for her.”

Beck and his radio co-hosts said they’re not the only ones to reach the conclusion, and that many who used to value Oprah’s advice now question it because she became so partisan around the 2008 election.

“Maybe [her advice is] not that good, because she’s an idiot on everything else,” Beck’s co-host Stu Burguiere summarized. “If you know something else and she comes out and sells you this lie – because you’ve heard it and you know how to disprove it, because you listen to talk radio … how can you trust her on these other things? Think of the women that loved Oprah before, when her political leanings came out, [that] separated.”

This isn’t the first time Beck has called out Oprah. Back in August, Beck tore into what he described as Oprah’s “offensive” comparison of Trayvon Martin and Emmett Till.
