Multiple people injured in Texas college stabbing incident Ban On all knife's

At least 12 people and as
many as 14 have been injured in the incident at Lone Star College's
CyFair campus in Cypress, according to CNN affiliates KHOU, KTRK and
KPRC, who are citing authorities.
Authorities have detained one suspect, and another might be at large, the school said in a statement.
"There are multiple
injuries and conflicting reports on the total number of victims and
severity of injuries," the school's statement said. "We can confirm that
several people have been transported to area hospitals."
The Harris County
Sheriff's Office confirmed that one suspect has been detained. Earlier,
the sheriff's office said at least one person was stabbed at the
college.
Details about what led to the incident weren't immediately released.
"Stay away from the area. Seek shelter in a secure location until the incident is resolved," the school posted on its website.
Tuesday's incident comes
more than two months after three people were wounded in a shooting at a
different Lone Star College campus -- the North Harris campus in
Houston.

CYPRESS, Texas (AP) — A sheriff’s official says one person has been arrested in a suspected stabbing attack at a Houston-area community college campus.
Alan Bernstein of the Harris County Sheriff’s Office doesn’t know how many people were hurt in the Tuesday attack on the Lone Star community college system’s campus in Cypress, but multiple people could be seen being loaded into medical helicopters.
Bernstein says authorities have one suspect in custody.
Lone Star posted an alert on its website just before 12 p.m. warning students of two armed suspects and saying one person remains at large. The alert warned people to seek shelter in a secure location.
A different Lone Star system campus was the site of a January shooting. Two people were wounded, and a 22-year-old man was charged with aggravated assault.

HOUSTON (KPRC) - As many as 14 people may have been stabbed at a northwest Harris County college on Tuesday, according to paramedics.
Police are checking every car leaving the campus as they believe one suspect is at large.
Cy-Fair volunteer firefighters said they were called out to a stabbing at Lone Star College, 9191 Barker Cypress Road, about 11:30 a.m.
Life Flight officials said they were on standby.

Richard Shoop, 20, was found dead after police say he entered the
Garden State Plaza Mall with a rifle and fired at least one shot.
Panic reigned at New Jersey’s largest shopping mall Monday night when a
gunman in a black leather jacket and a biker helmet opened fire with a
rifle, according to witnesses.
The suspect, identified as 20-year-old Richard Shoop, was later found dead around 3:20 a.m. in a construction site within the mall, authorities said early Tuesday. He was apparently killed by a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Terrified shoppers ducked for cover or ran for exits when the gunfire erupted at Westfield Garden State Plaza in Paramus shortly before its 9:30 p.m. closing, officials said. No injuries were reported.
It is unclear why Shoop targeted the mall, which is at the intersection
of Route 17 and Route 4, near the Garden State Parkway, but police
believe he may have been seeking out someone specific who ended up not
being there, Fox News reported.

Shoop lived in Teaneck, N.J., and worked as a pizza deliverman.
Police raided his home on Emerson Ave. shortly before 1 a.m., and a man
holding a screwdriver answered the door, the Star-Ledger reported. It
was not clear if the man was taken into custody.
The 2.1-million-square-foot shopping complex remained on lockdown
Tuesday as police talked with witnesses and searched the area.
Authorities found Shoop’s cell phone on the mall's second floor near
Neiman Marcus, a source told Fox News. A leather jacket and backpack
were also found in Lord & Taylor, also on the second floor.
Paramus Mayor Richard LaBarbiera and Jim Tedesco of the city’s Office of Emergency Management told the media about 11:15 p.m. that the gunman fired only a single round from a long-barreled rifle, but numerous witnesses described the gunman firing multiple shots. The gunfire, however, seemed wild and was not aimed at anyone in particular.
Kimberly Recchia, 20, an employee at the bareMinerals store, said she
saw the gunman enter the mall. “He was walking slowly with his rifle,
shots were fired and he was slowly walking toward us,” Recchia told The
News, recalling what she saw from inside the store. “He had a mask on
and was dressed in all black.

“When I heard the shots, I looked up and there was this guy coming down
the aisle with a rifle next to him and he was shooting, slowly
walking,” Recchia continued. She said she moved quickly into a back room
of the store, but forgot to close the security gate.
“I ran back into the room and he kept getting closer and closer, and I thought he was gonna come into our store because our gate wasn’t closed yet, but thankfully he didn’t,” Recchia said.
Mercedez Heggs, 24, of Clifton, N.J., who works at the mall’s Uniqlo store, said she locked eyes with the gunman.
“He is a tall guy. He was wearing a black leather jacket, black biker helmet, and he had a big shotgun,” Heggs told The News.
“It was a regular Monday at the mall and all of a sudden ... you heard screaming. The security guard screamed, ‘Get the f--k out!’” Heggs added. “You could hear the (shots) .... My main concern being the supervisor was getting everyone out of the store.”
Officials have said the mall will remain closed Tuesday.
