Take our Poll
Who would you like to see on 'DWTS' Season 12?
Thought you saw the last of Christine O'Donnell when she lost in the midterm elections? Think again.
The much-mocked Tea Party darling who was trounced in her bid for the Delaware Senate earlier this month is rumored to be under consideration for a spot on the next season of "Dancing with the Stars," thanks to some behind-the-scenes help from Sarah Palin.
Palin, who watched her daughter Bristol finish third on the show Tuesday night, has been whispering in the ear of the show's producers to get O'Donnell added to the cast, according to AOL's PopEater blog.
"Sarah is a genius at marketing herself and her message," a source told PopEater’s Rob Shuter. "She doesn't care about all the old rules about how political people are meant to behave and act. Sarah believes the best way is to go directly to the people - use Twitter, Facebook, 'Dancing With the Stars' and 'Entertainment Tonight' to get potential voters excited and leave 'Meet The Press' and those boring Sunday morning shows to the old-school politicians."
O'Donnell is a fan of the show, and tweeted her support for Bristol on Monday.
"I just voted for Bristol on DWTS!" she wrote, encouraging others to vote. "She's enduring a lot & should be proud. It's shameful the way she is being attacked."
But even if Mama Palin wants to bring O'Donnell back into the spotlight, does anyone else think it would be a good fit?
ABC does, apparently.
"Christine is not a bad idea at all," a network executive told Shuter. "After Kate Gosselin and Cloris Leachman, O'Donnell would fit right in. She certainly would be so controversial that the amount of press attention and buzz the show would get would be huge. Plus, you know they would make her dance in a witch's hat with a broomstick."
Fox News reports that O'Donnell would get at least $200,000 to appear on the show.
So if she does make it on the cast, who would she be up against?
Though Season 11 just ended, former Full House star Jodie Sweetin has already been very vocal in expressing her interest in competing.
"I really want to do the show," she told People magazine. "I just want to dance, but the fact that it would be on camera, and I'd get to have my hair and make-up done and wear those costumes? Awesome!"
Portia de Rossi has also said she'd consider doing the show, after Ryan Seacrest told her ABC producers have her at "the top of their list."
"I'm not going to pass! Let me think about it," she said this month. "I used to be a ballet dancer. It's not completely a pass. You never know!"
