Wingspan. Butterfly Jacquard Knit Dress from the new "Luly" ready-to-wear line. $595.

Get ready to be dazzled: Luly Yang, the duchess of dresses and all things glam, is throwing one sublime fashion show on Sunday, April 12 at the W Hotel Grand Ballroom. And you're all cordially invited.

The event, appropriately titled The Butterfly Effect (Ms. Yang has an affinity for Monarch butterflies; remember this dress she debuted in 2005), will celebrate the launch of Luly (accessible separates) and Luly Yang (transitional cocktail dresses and gowns) ready-to-wear lines as well as the designer's 2015 couture collection, bridal and e-boutique. "My dream is for Luly Yang Couture to be a lifestyle destination for women to discover beautiful things no matter the occasion and no matter where they are," Yang says.

 Designer Luly Yang
Since launching her fashion design career in 2000, Yang has made a name for herself crafting exquisite eveningwear and elegant couture bridal gowns. Her brilliant creations line the windows of her downtown boutique on Fourth Avenue. And when her loyal clients asked for ready-to-wear offerings, she was happy to oblige. "I had the idea to create a ready-to-wear collection one year ago," Yang says. "I wanted to use textiles that are luxurious, easy to wear and would move with the body. It was important that the collections have a transitional quality, meaning the person wearing it could feel sophisticated at work then easily change her look before enjoying an evening out with her girlfriends."

As for what to expect during the fashion show? "I named this show The Butterfly Effect because I am inspired by the idea that a small act of kindness can have a lasting impression on someone or a group of people on the other side of the world," Yang says. "Throughout the afternoon there will be stylish surprises and treasures found. I want them to leave the show inspired to spread beautiful acts of kindness and humility in our community."

What was the inspiration behind the ready-to-wear collection and e-boutique?
As a designer, it is important for me to always listen to my clients and learn how they want to feel. I have dressed women from around the world for 14 years and I know they are successful, empowered and enjoy expressing their femininity no matter the occasion. Whether they are at work or enjoying an evening out with friends, I believed my clients will appreciate a wearable and versatile wardrobe wherever they may be.
My clients can expect the same modern, feminine elements and techniques from my couture collections we have perfected over the years translated into everyday wardrobe staples. As the Luly Yang brand moves forward, into a new metamorphosis, I wanted to pay homage to my iconic Monarch Butterfly dress. I have designed this motif into cashmere separates, skirts, dresses and evening accessories!
I believe we offer an online shopping experience that is personalized and effortless for the visitor. Now, after eight months building our new website I am happy to introduce this enhanced service to our clients, whether they are in Bellevue or Washington, D.C. We will also offer limited edition accessories including sunglasses, clutches and jewelry on our new e-boutique.
How long did the new ready-to-wear collections take to create?
We spent several months perfecting the fit of each design. My goal as a designer was to create a true balance between form and function. We used our expertise in design and engineering along with innovative textiles to create pieces that are flattering and easy to care for.
